Yale BMES

Yale's Biomedical Engineering Society for undergraduates

We are the Yale Biomedical Engineering Society.

The Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) at Yale University is a student-led society that was founded in 2014. We are an undergraduate chapter of the international BMES association, and our primary goal is to enhance student awareness of the biomedical engineering field. We also function as a support network for students within the major as they take courses and engage in extracurricular activities at Yale and beyond. Our goal is to foster the forefront of technology, biological sciences, medicine, and engineering on campus while bringing each BME cohort closer together.

Professional Development

From career panels to on-campus company recruitment sessions, we organize events to help build the future careers of Yale BME majors.

Faculty Involvement

We connect students with faculty in fields of interest, fostering mentorships and providing a casual environment to get to know Yale BME professors.

Social Events

We strive to create a welcoming environment for BME majors of all backgrounds and identities through study breaks and big sib-little sib pairings.

Innovation and Evolution

We are Yale's hotspot for  student innovation at the intersection of medicine, biology, and engineering, collaborating with affiliate organizations to dream, build, enact, and engage student ideas.

Our Mission

The Yale Chapter of the Biomedical Engineering Society aims to increase awareness of the vast possibilities available through biomedical engineering, an interdisciplinary field in which the principles of basic science and engineering are applied to medicine. We hope to provide students at Yale with access to applied biomedical engineering in both academia and industry. We serve as a support network and forum for all biomedical engineering students to ask advice or express  concerns in hopes of creating a strong, integrated major.

Membership is open to all students in Yale College, although BMES will best serve students studying biomedical engineering (BME).
